Burano Market Market
The small daily market in Burano, on Campo Pescheria: fish and shellfish, fruit and vegetables, cheeses and cured meats for the island’s residents.
The Burano Market occupies Campo Pescheria, a small waterfront square whose name recalls the island’s vocation: Burano was long a fishing community before becoming famous for its lace and colorful houses.
It is a neighborhood market, aimed more at residents than visitors. According to the City of Venice, it offers fish and shellfish, fruit and vegetables, cheeses, cured meats, meat and eggs. The market is modest: on some mornings, it is reduced to a few tables or a boat moored at the quay. This is where you can find gò, the lagoon goby used to prepare risotto di gò, a specialty of the island.
